ad Posted April 4, 2002 Author Posted April 4, 2002 not to ruin your hardcore image jack but its actually very easy to knock a bag out of its bracket, if it doest come out, it means that the bag has too much chain hanging off meaning that its too loose and not stable enough, i know many of you would prefer a swinging back, but its a real pain when it goes all over the place, ecspecially when you try combos, its best to have a happy medium, if you round house kick it, and it falls of, the chain to the bag needs to be shorter Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
Jack Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 lol ad - don't worry, I know about the bracket. The wall isn't too sturdy and we had some trouble tightly fitting the bracket into it (wrong size drillbits etc.) I'll have to put it up with some meticulous planning next time. CTpizzaboy Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 Great post and great suggestions that anyone can use. However, I wouldn't lead with a cross(refer to Prodigy-Child post). Easily counter because your head will be leaning in to the opponent. Canh T.I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversations.
Prodigy-Child Posted April 4, 2002 Posted April 4, 2002 well each of those combonations are used for different distance lines i usually always set stuff up with my lead side and once ive established that i start faking and lead with my cross and so on leading with a cross is very common You can boo me if you want, You know I'm right!-Chris Rock
KP Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Lots of good ideas out there I like to use a timer after a little warm up set it for 2 min then 3 then 4 ,5 then just go util you run out of steam. It gives you a accurate gauge of your stamina. O ya rest inbetween. I like to let the bag swing so i can circle it. Don't forget the AC DC
G95champ Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 We do rounds. You may want to start with like 30 seconds and work you way up to 5 mins or so. We do like a round of all hanrd as fast as we can throwing anything. Then a round of all feet again anything as fast as we can. Then we do 2 rounds of everything. As far as power kicking on a hanging bag we only do roundhouse, spinning thrust, and side kicks. When we do those we do like sets of 5 on each leg and work up to like 25 or so. I think I just made my next belt. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Radok Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 I need to get a heavy bag to improve preformance. I will be getting a freestanding, not hanging, because I think they give more realistic feel. I just need $40 more. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
Ti-Kwon-Leap Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 You might try to make it a point to invent different combos and footwork as well as working on ambidexterity so that you get used to adaptation and don't fall into a rut. This should be done in addition to keeping your favorites sharp... A couple of my favorite things to practice is multiple kicks with the foot never touching the ground and also putting your foot on the top of the bag and using hand techniques and mobility exercises on one leg. (someone is bound to grab your leg sooner or later, even if you kick low) Remember to train as if the bag could come after you at any moment and then you won't make the mistake of just standing in one place all the time; just mindlessly hitting it... Good luck! Ti-Kwon-Leap"Annoying the ignorant since 1961"
Jack Posted May 2, 2002 Posted May 2, 2002 I broke my punchbag again My dad is going to weld up a good strong bracket, unlike the weak faulty Argos ones. Maybe then I can have more than 10 minutes on the bag without it breaking! Kickchick - any chance you could PM some of those routines? I wouldn't mind a peek.
