Shorin-Ryu Karateka Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Was this event supposed to be on pay per view because I never saw a single promotion and I probably would have purchased just for the novelty. If he practices 3 times, I must practice 6 times -- Osensei Nagamine
Kamauser5 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I personally didn't go but my dad and some of my Karate team did. They said it was good..some bloodshed and a few knockouts...it was taped and i think they will show it on ESPN2 sometime soon...hope so anyway Genetics is the study of which parents family is to blame for a teenagers behavior.

Charlie Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 There's also a fairly good recap/synopsis of the event on the WCL site at:http://www.worldcombatleague.com/current-event.aspNo mention anywhere on the site (that I could find) on if or when it might be shown on TV.
MiccyNarc Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Carlos Tearney is a Renshi at the Dojo where I'm training. I laughed when I readTearney started with the advantage as he had an entire cheering section for him, complete with signs like 'It's Showtime'. That's our Dojo, for sure. I wish I could have gone.
Armbar Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I just found out about this. Hope this takes off. The video found here: http://www.worldcombatleague.com/media/wmv/Debut.wmv has one of the most brutal high round kick KO i've ever seen. Check it out. "Achieving victory in every battle is not absolute perfection. Neutralizing an adversary’s forces without battle is perfection."Sun-Tzu, The Art of War
granmasterchen Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 looked pretty good to me, i would continue to watch it, it reminds me of the older full contact sparring matches back in the 70s That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
tkdan Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 My latest black belt mag had a good artical about it. I think it will be good for martial arts. I think it is a matter of it getting enough TV time in order to get people interested. I'm sure there are people like me who are not interested in seeing every fight go to the ground. If you are a boxing fan you would not want to see matches end up grappling either. This is my opinion but I like stand-up fighting.
aefibird Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 It sounds like a great series, I hope it really takes off. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
