Problem with bulking....to many reps.

I just got a great new job, but it requires tons of light lifting. I've been bulking for about four monthes and I've been making some great gains. But, now that I have to do a million reps a day with light weight I'm afraid it'll slow the bulking process. Not mention it cuts into my workouts. Now instead of being in the gym lifting heavy and busting my *, I'm getting bored lifting light for hours. What's the best way to compensate for this loss of "power" time? I know it won't be totally aviodable, but what's some of the better ways to maximize bulking under these conditions?

Unless the hours are more for the job, it shouldn't cut into your workouts. And tons of light lifting (Once your body gets used to it) shouldn't affect your mass gains at all. You work your abs all day long, but you can still punish them for growth 2-3 times a week.

You might need to adjust for recovery times, but the light lifting should also help speed lactic acid out of the muscles. If anything, the light lifting should help by keeping the muscles moving, as opposed to sitting sedentary all day long.

My main concern is that I might be using my muscles too much through out the day. THen with I lift heavy I'm already using worn muscule, and my lifts are weaker. Won't this slow down my bulking due to the fact that I'm doing so much light lifting. Recovery time is also an issue. I used to have plenty of time for rest and recovery, now I'm right back out the next morning doing semi-light work all day. Another thing that worries me is muscle fatigue.

Yes, this will hinder growth. You're going to be lifting a lot, with not a lot of recovery time. You can eat all you want, if you don't get enough rest, you'll be doing more harm then good. Take the time now to improve your endurance. How long have you been on a bulking cycle? This might do you some good switching up your workouts. Try doing this for a couple of months, then go back to high weight, low reps for bulking.

I don't have to be the best, just better than you!

I think BULKING may hinder your martial arts. Flexibility, speed and suppleness in joints is far more important. Let your muscles become impressive, yes...but do you want to walk around looking like a piece of jello, or a, lean, mean fighting machine!!!!!??

Bruce Lee or your standered sprinter, althlete look...in my opinion...is more impressive and healthy looking than your, hulking body builder type.

Of course, your choice...just presenting another idea.

Your Genetics will also play a role also, in how much workload your body can handle, I also have a labour intesive job as well.. I'am 5'9 220lbs 19 inch arms I train 'lift' 4 days a week and 2 days in the dojo, I just make sure that I get enough sleep and extra on week ends as well.

Is it possible for you to add more of what you are lifting to get more weight or are the items to bulky?

Might not be advisable depending on what he is lifting. Part of what causes back injuries in so many workplaces is having to lift heavy weights extended out from the body because of package size. It might help the legs in a proper lift, but other than that not a lot of benefit and a lot of increased risk.
