Whitefeather Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Hey everybody,What are some good drills to build depth perception and ranging skills? "Between genius and insanity, there lies a fine line. I like to think of it as the tip of the diving board."-An anonymous insane genius"Fight I, not as one that beateth the air"
choppingfiend Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I would also be interested in developing these skills a little more...anyone know any secrets?
JusticeZero Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 The one I usually use is to have two people. One of them carries one or two targets to hit - small ones. The target area shouldn't be bigger than a tennis ball in any dimension. Do footwork together, shifting in and out, then the person with the target will present it somewhere and you have to hit it with your next step.Another drill is that you range out the length of a common attack, cut a dowel or pvc pipe or such to that length, then you and a partner put it between you holding it up with your belt - not touching it with your hands - and move around the room, trying not to drop it. shotochem Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I like to use a tennisball tied to a string suspended from the ceiling and hit it as it swings back and forth. Use any techniques you like and move around while working it. Not fancy but it works for me. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime.
CagedWarrior Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Sparring. I guess those "timing bags" or whatever they are (ball tied to roof and floor, all elasticy) are for that, but I've never used one.
