EnvE Posted April 21, 2002 Posted April 21, 2002 I think sparring at white belt level is foolish... Think about it, you got these kids fighting each other when they don't even know how to punch, kick, and block properly...unless you've taken other forms before. I was a natural, so I caught on pretty quick. Fighting over the internet is like special olympics...even if you win, you're still a *.
muaythaidm Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 At my school you spar and compete when you are good enough too, if that is two monthes or 5 years, it is up to you.
EnvE Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 I was sparring the brown belts(3 levels of brown, one away from black) when I was a white...of course, I got my ass kicked a couple times, but I managed to fight back and beat them. Fighting over the internet is like special olympics...even if you win, you're still a *.

Athorn4941 Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 I don't think you should have to wait to do tournaments or for sparing. but thats my opinion. you teach someone forms and in actual combat it all goes out the door. i think people should be at least allowed to spar quickly to get them accustumed to a battle situation. and to get used to addrenaline rush. once it hits most people only rely on a few techniques and the sooner your able to control this the better. thats just my opinion.
