y2_sub Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Among all those great martial artists that helped developing martial arts , nobody has ever mentioned Mohammed Ali/Cassius Clay , the way he lived , the way he fought , how he influenced boxing sports by his "Dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee." style , that not only developed boxing , but also kick/thai boxing and every boxing related style .I personally think that the man is a legend ,what dop you say ?? Jay Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 yeh he is awsome he managed to win when the odds where against him (rumble in the jungle) and only got knocked out once in his entire carrer also only losing 3 matches pretty good in my books The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
Ben Martin Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 yeah he was a great fighter one of my all time faves.... but i still think in his prime tyson would have ate him alive. pineapple Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Ali is certainly up there in my list of favorites! As he got older and slower, it was always exciting to see if he could win one more. His will power to keep fighting when he was hurt was an inspiration to me. What works works
Muaythaiboxer Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 "Flote like a butterfly sting like a bee" not "Dance" Ali in my opinion was the third best boxer of all time nest to Ray Robinson, and Joe Lewis. Tyson had the abilaty to be one of the greatest but he never achieved legened status the only thing he was know for really was infighting and biteing off peoples ears. Ali probly would have beat Tyson cause although Tyson was a great infighter Ali had the great abilaty to keep pulling down on the head to avoide the blows, the man was one of the fastest strikers of all time, and he was a great inovator he invented the rope a dope stratagy and had the best left jab in boxing history not to mention his endurence, although he did have a really poor left hook compaired to Forman,Liston,Frasier, and Tyson. topdawg Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 didn't he beat foreman, liston, and frasier? A computer beat me in a game of chess once but it was no match for me in a kickboxing match
y2_sub Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 didn't he beat foreman, liston, and frasier?yep Moon might shine upon the innocent and the guilty alike

White Warlock Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Ali was a showman, and thus brought the sport of boxing to great attention. It was through his actions, and that of his manager, that he was able to encourage million dollar deals at a time when the vast majority of professional boxers simply weren't paid unless they won, and even then... pocket change.I hold a tremendous amount of respect for Sugar Ray Leonard. I don't know why, but he really doesn't get mentioned much when it comes to all time greats, yet i consider him to be one of the best 'boxers' that ever stepped in a ring.
