Highler Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 When i bend the knees a lot, say for shiko dachi, they creak on the way back up. They don't feel bad or anything, they just make this weird creaking noise a bit like the noise you can make when cracking your knuckles Anyone had this before? 'The cat taught the tiger everything he knows. One day the tiger turned on the cat and the cat ran up a tree. That was the one thing the cat never taught the tiger.'
TheDevilAside Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Lucky for you, there's a topic on the exact same situation. Highler Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 So it's not a bad thing then? I was worried about doing a lot of exercises like squats which might make them worse 'The cat taught the tiger everything he knows. One day the tiger turned on the cat and the cat ran up a tree. That was the one thing the cat never taught the tiger.'
orion82698 Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I have been doing squats for almost a year now, along with running, the eliptical and the bike. All require knees. I don't have to be the best, just better than you!Working towards 11% BF and a Six pack
Maddwraph Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 how much would it cost to see a doctor about this? Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.

Shotokan karate has a tendency to put pressure on the knees because of the low and wide stances. My right knee was broken and the knee cap is now just a portion of the original due to car injury 25 years ago. But, I never stopped doing my karate kicks daily up to this very day since 38 years past. However, as I mellowed in age, I don't kick full extension anymore nor have I remained faithful to the true low Shotokan stances. I'm now 55 years and my doctors in the past have diagnosed my left knee as pre-arthritic, but they couldn't keep me away from my favorite physical pastime. My karate may not really be true to form anymore as was in my youth, but I'm still doing karate and have no plans of stopping at all. Gene
