Shorinryu Sensei Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 I have my first grading in 2 weeks can anyone give me any pointersThanksSince none of us has any idea of what your particular gradings ae like, all we can say is train hard, be as prepared as possible, and good luck. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Menjo Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 lol yea what he said, but good luck and bug your instructor to teach you above what you need. Aim High "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
Uechi Kid Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Just do in your test like you've been doing in class and you'll do just fine. More Practice
A. Orstrom Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Yes, relax and do as you always do. You'll do fine.Good luck. The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence, but in the mastery of his passions.Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Chris05 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Practice until you fully understand what was taught to you and go past the fundemental and you will never fail both in martial arts and life
Why_Worry Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Just remember, yoru instructor wouldnt let you test unless you ere ready. At my school the instructor makes sure you are ready by not telling you when your gonna test and during one of the class just pulls you aside when he feels your ready (and sometime after you do a set amount of katas at home and write a thougthful essay) Focus
usc96 Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Make a checklist of what you are supposed to know and quiz yourself.
Jay Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 make sure you know everything i onced asked someone to show me something on the day of a grading becuase we didnt know whether it was going to come up however it did and i was fine cos i had just practiced it. Make sure you know everything that could possibly come up. The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
kivikala Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 First let me say this.... I hate tests. That being said, your first test can be quite terrifying no matter what your age. If you are not used to "performing" in front of people, or afraid of "making a mistake" this can be un-nerving.To resolve this, it varies from person to person. But what always seems to help is... breathe. Yup, just breathe. Exhale and then inhale. For your own self-confidence, just practice loosely in front of a mirror the day before the test... then don't do anything until it's time. Why? This is to let yourself know that you know what you know and not to get all worked up over it. You will be confident if you think confident. As previously mentioned, you wouldn't be testing if your instructor didn't think you were already there.
