I think that the story of Dragons may have originated from dinosaurs....a few extinct creatures that are now dead....or maybe just some philosophers sitting on a mountain top smoking too much opium....and they thought they saw dragons along with all the other things...

Not necessarily. There is some basis for the myths. Bones of dinosaurs found ages ago may have helped proliferate these myths, but incidents with giant alligators, komodo dragons, and various sea creatures i'm sure put the seed to them.

Dragons have become and in my opinion likely always have been a spiritual being or ideal. I don't think it is any more absurd to spiritually believe in dragons then it is to believe in many of the other saints, gods, and/or spiritual beings that are worshiped and interacted with in various religions. And I don't feel threatened to say that I myself, have seen a dragon. It was a very interesting experience. And no, drugs were not involved.

The only two things that stand between an effective art and one that isn't are a tradition to draw knowledge from and the mind to practice it.
