Favorite Kata

Being of Shotokan Origin.... My fave kata are;

1) Nihanchi

2.)Bassai Dai

3.)Nijushio

4.)Seyunchin (i know it isn't a Shotokan kata, but we;ve intorduced it into the adult syllabus... )

Being only a beginning white belt, I have only learned two kata's. Heidan shodan en heidan nidan. I like heidan nidan a lot better, because you can tell there really is a difference between the two.

Actually, heidan nidan is a yellow belt kata at out dojo, but I was lucky to be in the class where it was being teached.

Hm... well I only know the heians and takiyoku's as of yet but I would say heian nidan or heian godan - the jump is cool if it's right. Sanchin is cool but I don't know it well enough to do it on my own

I practice a style called Joshinmon Shorin Ryu. From The bunch of katas i know...i have 2 katas that are my favorites. The first is "Chatanyara no kushanku" and "Pinan Godan"

It's hard to pick a favourite but I really like two:

Seipai for versatility of the moves and "rythm".

Seienchin - cause it's really difficult to perform on the same level of quality from beginning to end (it's a constant challenge for me)

I recently started learning naifanchi shodan. I think it's a great kata and there are some movements in there I haven't done before.

I do Japanese Karate(any one else here does Japanese?),so far,its been tekiokugaiden,and I just graded to yellow on monday

i like all the kata's, but haku, bassai dai, matsukaze, and jiin are mt favorites. lol someone in class literally called me the "kata master".....oh i also annanko when i can remember it....i train in shito ryu karate

Soryu version of Jion (I hear that it is somewhat similar to the Shito Ryu version
