Favorite Kata

I'm only a yellow belt in karate so the number of katas I know are limited but,

Kata: Pinan Nidan

Kobudo: Shu Shi No Kon Dai

I think definitely, mine would be Kanku Dai.

Open hand: Chinto

Weapon: Shorinryu/Shorin kan no Eku dai Ich.

Chinto has been my best kata for years...I also like Kusanku as well though.

I train in Go-Kan-Ryu. My two favourite katas are probably Seiunchin and Empi

Hummmm....

Hangetsu for breathing.

Ananku for shifting and speed.

Bassai Dai for explosive power.

Wankan No Tekko for raw power.

Bassai Sho for balance.

I do shotokan as you can see from my name

I would say my faviorites are kanku sho (2nd dan) Chinte (3rd dan) and Unsu wich I use for competitions and have won 4 so far (3rd in judgement day) anyway, unsu, great kata, A 360 jump and its 4th dan kata and i am only 1st kyu

I do shotokan and have 3 favourites...Heian Yondan, bassai dai and Jion

My two favourite katas are Kanku Dai and Tekki Shodan.

Why?

Kanku Dai :

Is a very long kata. Because of that it offers a great workout for the human body. It's a very dynamic kata containing punches, blocks, front kicks, side kicks and a jumping double kick. Almost all parts of the body are being trained by it. It has also an arsenal of techniques and combinations ready to be used for seldefense.

Tekki Shodan :

Is a short kata, with very practical techiques based on selfdefense. For a short kata, it is very rich of applications. It can be practised almost anywhere, you don't need much space to practise this kata. I even practise this kata in my office sometimes.

Im still a low belt in Shotokan karate but my fav so far is Heian Yondan.

Hey no shame in that I am a 5th Dan and that still is one of my choice katas.
