Shotokan jka ranking

Featured Replies

I just joined a jka dojo a few weeks ago. Why are there only 4 belts(white green brown black)?

the website is jkaboston.com

I am a member of a JKA dojo and we have more than 4 belts...

The number of belts will usually depend on the dojo  The one I am involved in has the same belt system as mlee, just without the yellow belt.

my shotokan belt system uses white, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, red, thhen black

You can become a great fighter without ever becoming a martial artist, but no sir, you can not become a great martial artist with out becoming a great fighter. To fight is most certainly not the aim of any true martial art, but they are fighting arts all the same. As martial artists, we must stand ready to fight, even if hoping that such conflict never comes.

ours (KUGB) has just broken away from the JKA, but we still use the same belt system

Hey,

I am in SKIF and our belt system at my dojo is as follows:

white

white

yellow

orange

green

purple

purple

brown

brown

brown

black (1st Dan-10th Dan)

However, I believe in Japan at Master Kanazawa's dojo it goes:

4xwhite

3xpurple

3xbrown

black (1st-!0th Dan)

A good technique is beautiful but a beautiful technique is not always good.

My dojo had white, yellow, blue, purple, brown (3 levels), black.
