kchenault Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 If you choose this option, don't forget to drill a pilot hole. You wouldn't want to split the joist. Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!

I'd agree with KK's comments: he's good for targeting, but isn't really hard enough for face striking. I'd say that he would make your sparring game better, as it's good for target practice, but you could get the same effect with a heavy hanging bag or a regular freestanding bag. After all, (unless you're very lucky!!) your opponent won't stand there like a BOB but will be moving and counterstriking. it's one way you could use to improve your game, but practising with a live partner is a better option IMO. Drivr Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 Something to think about before using a hanging bag. when you hit that bag hanging from any joist in the house everyone in the house will know. If you have kids and like to train at night then you might want to think about that. I have one of the wavemaster freestanding bags in my basement and though it moves as least I dont wakeup the kids during a workout.
KwicKixJ1 Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 use one of those corner stands. it's like an iron... contraption that sits flush with the corner on the ground, and has a pole like a basketball post, and holds your bag. doesn't hang from the ceiling.
sk0t Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I am partial to a hanging heavy bag...braced properly to the ceiling, they are imho the best. sk0t"I shall not be judged by what style I know, but how I apply that style againsts yours..."
