dippedappe Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 I know a few shaolin students that have studied for about a year. I'd say most karate exponents that have studied for a year are better equipped in a SD situation. Most shaolin styles (from what I've seen) take many years to fully become competent. You are right about that.
stonecrusher69 Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 deippedappe...What do you base it on that WC was not used or created for the purpose to defeat other Shaolin styles?I'mnot saying it's true, but since WCK is not a very old style,it makes sense if you wanted to create somthing new you have to somehow find a better way to out do what's being used at that time. It's just the evolution of MA. http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"

I have never said WC is a Shaolin beater or not. I was asking if Shaolin would beat WC in the long run.
MenteReligieuse Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Because it was created to get someone as efficient as possible witin a very short period of training. If the legend is true it was created by a nun as an alternate way of self-defense, not necessarily a better one.
IAmGod Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I took ShaoLin and Wing Chun. They are different, I like Wing Chun better because of how close they fight, which is very effective on the streets.People usually keep their distance in a fight, thats why people usually back up when they fight. While Wing Chun is always moving in and moving in. Keeps you in an offensive position all the time.Nothing is perfect, Wing Chun has its weakness too.But if you are to compare the two, I like Wing Chun more.
stonecrusher69 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 what style of shaolin did you study? was it buk sui lum? http://www.youtube.com/user/sifumcilwrath"When the student is ready the master will appear"

Most shaolin styles (from what I've seen) take many years to fully become competent. You are probably right, but when they do become competent then one had better watch out. Use your time on an art that is worthwhile and not on a dozen irrelevant "ways".
