I help friends tune, but I don't have the cash to tune anything that I own. You drive a ford escort ZX2, I presume?

I drive a 96 Ford Contour SE (175 HP, V6).

I'm into tuning my motor: GM LS1 (iron block variant), bored and stroked to 408 cubes, ported heads, with a 248/248 .615 lift 112 deg lobe sep cam, topped off with a LS6 intake.

Current tune has me running deep in the 11's in the 1/4. Haven't dynoed it yet, but I'm guessing between 450 to 500 HP at the rear wheels.

Oh ya, the motor's in a '98 Trans Am that goes "lumpity lumpity" at stop lights. :D

I like the LS1 engine but I hate the interior of the Firebird. So shoddy... :(

Hehe! I'm the opposite.

I hate the pretentious, overpriced, "refined" cars that have no muscle. You know the ones, all show - no go. For the price of a Trans Am, all you get anywhere else are just weak imitations of a sports car. Might as well just get an economy car like a Honda. :P

The Pontiac GTO has a very nice interior, and is the only other GM car besides the Corvette to sport the LS1/2 engine.

It depends on what you want. If you're looking for 0-60 and 1/4 monsters, yeah the firebird is a pretty decent car for the money. However, you do sacrifice a lot of comfort/quality when you get an underpriced sports car. Don't get me wrong, I drool over the 305 HP engine (stock) as much as any red-blooded man, but I can't handle the lack of comfort for a daily driver. I guess I'm outgrowing my need to out-testosterone every other guy at the local red light.

The new Dodge Neon SRT-4 has like a 5.3 0-60, but I'd never be caught dead in that thing. The interior is cramped, it's ugly, and it's a NEON. For me power doesn't overcome things like style, comfort, and gas mileage.
