ZX2Tuner_8000 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 What can I do in my daily training routine to improve my skill in the Martial Arts(in my case, Karate). I've learned the first set of kata so far, so I usually incorporate that into my training. Is there anything I can do that can be somewhat of a substitute for sparring? makiwaraman Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Thats the most usefull kata you have learned , So I assume its h shape geden berai then strike, well whatever change the techniques keep the pattern. eg: age uke then mawashe geri this makes you do the technique at least 18 times each as you have to get to the end of the kata. Do this with every technique you know and you will see a massive improvement.regards maki We are necessarily imperfect and therefore always in a state of growth, We can always learn more and therefore perform better.

Kajukenbopr Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 easy, since u seem to be new at karate- do the kata over and over and over again.for sparring, try shadowboxing for your hands, and try to set a goal for kicks- like 300 different kicks, and start adding as you go.Doing pushups, abs, running, kata and the punching and kicking in the air, will make you go through each class easily. after that , have ur instructor give u pointers on how to develop ur fighting skills. <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty
