Menjo Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 (edited) What would you say is the best overall work-out?I voted swimming Edited July 26, 2005 by Menjo "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
Maddwraph Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 i say running, but the other ones are good to. running is healthy for the body in general, and when you start to see your becoming healthier, its also good for the mind. they go together quite nice. Im brasilian, but live in the united states. Really enjoying martial arts.
cheeks Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 none of these can give you a complete work out, running improves fitness, but does nothing for upper body..weight training makes you strong, but wont help you loose weight.you need a combination of aerobic training (run/swim/bike/etc) and strength training (weights/gym/pushups/situps/etc) If you have just read the above message and agree with it then you may worship me as the best thing since sliced bread. Of course if you don't agree then hey, i'm a crazed lunatic and you should ignore my insane ramblings.
Kajukenbopr Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Swimming makes your body stornger and it also helps with cardio. It is the most complete excercise(if you're not planning on doing anything else). <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty

Menjo Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 Actually would conditioning really be considered a work out? "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
CagedWarrior Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 This all depends on what I'm training/working out for.
fangshi Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Can I vote all of the above . Cross training is best. We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.
Fairfax_Uechi Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I voted other as I feel you need a combination to stay fit. Kata and martial arts are great, but running or stair steppers for cardio, weights for building muscle, and stretching are all necessary to be in great shape. Couple cardio, weights, stretching and martial arts and you have a great combination.
Aodhan Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 For straight overall body, I put swimming. It is a whole body exercise, is very aerobic intensive, and can be driven into anaerobic as well. However, it doesn't do a lot for building muscle size.Running is absolute anathema if you are seriously trying to build muscle, as the pounding you take when running can cause muscle breakdown. As others have said, a sensible cross traning program with several different types of activity is the best bet.Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
