MenteReligieuse
Wooden man technique is mostly used in Wing Chun, the techniques you work on it arent necessarily those of your style.Oh and in a fight you use the moves that work, your forms/katas are supposed to teach you those that work in a fight, not the other way around. MenteReligieuse
Well there are a series of exercices you can do on it, I missed an "s", meant techniqueS. Of course you can also improvise on it I guess but it wont necessarily help you out.
ovine king
I was refering to the original post. The wooden man is a training tool. You work what you learn on it. You don't learn something that you only do on the wodden man, hence, there is no such thing as a wooden man technique. earth is the asylum of the universe where the inmates have taken over.don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers. nanfeishen
There are a number of different wooden dummies, they range from a simple post sunk into the ground, to the "live" dummy that is used in most Wing Chun schools, and a number of different styles employ them, BUT, as Ovine King stated, they are nothing more than training tools, yes there may be a form or two that is used to "work" the dummy, but every movement of those forms will be from the standard hand forms of the system in question. The dummy is nothing more than a training partner, one that can be used to perfect your techniques, and to assist in hardening and toughening your limbs, so that you become desensitised to the pain or discomfort in blocking, or stricking. If you think about it logically, you could never have a technique that is only for the wooden dummy, because that would imply there is a chance that you may be attacked by one. And in a fight, you use ANY technique that allows you to walk away from the situation.
