I don't mean to be rude but clinical studies prove that doing knuckle pushups give you arthritis at a young age. My sensei is living proof of that, he no longer can compete thanks to the "nuckle head" who told him

Do you have a link to this study? I can't find anything on the search engines, and it sounds somewhat anecdotal, kind of like the myth that cracking your knuckles will give you arthritis. (It won't, but if you get arthritis it will definitely make them worse).

As far as regular grip strength, it is a function of the muscles in your forearms, so wrist curls and similar exercises will help.

One of my favorite exercises for this is to hold a dumbell in each hand. Sit down, and rest your hands on your legs with your wrists extended out past each knee, palms facing up. Let your wrist bend backwards, and your fingers open until the dumbbell is being held barely by finger tips. Then pull the weight back up as you curl your fingers back around it, and then keep flexing until your knuckles are pointing straight up.

Also, you can take a sheet of newspaper, and use one hand only to ball it up, same with a towel (Although you can't grab much with a towel.)

whatever way works best for you is great.as for weight slowly build up the amount, you'll get higher later.Anyways its not really about the weight its more about the time you hold it because it makes your grip the bar stronger as time goes by

Just kidding...really? I had wondered...my first two knuckles are quite overgrown...anything I can do to stop that?

There is one thing you can do to cure this and that is cut them off lol.

We can always learn more and therefore perform better.
