I've been training for (as it says under my name) 11 years. Our workout before class has always been fairly intense, and I do pushups, situps, and the like at home, too.

I have rather good definition on my arm muscles, and my deltoids are okay sized, but my chest is only so-so, my stomach is still more of a two-pack, and my biceps are virtually non-existant.

Why is this? And any advice?

Rockin'.

I was afraid I'd hear that.

It varies...I've been working on seeing how many I can get done in a single set...so...usually about 100 pushups (70-30) and 125 situps (50-25-25-25) (of a variety, so I get all the sides, etc.). Then, I also have class, where we do usually around 50 pushups, 80 leg lifts, and 90 situps. Plus, I teach other classes, and get about 60 leglifts a day from those, but I don't think they really count.

to get size, i think you eventually have to work with weights.

I was going to say the same thing , quite frankly I don't think that pushups and sit-ups are that useful in building muscles

1 hour/day 3 days/week of working with weights is more than enough

When you say weights, do you mean like bench-pressing, or a variety?

It sounds like I'm going to need a health club membership, huh...

Thanks for the advice, by the way!

If you want a bigger chest, you need to hit the bench. Bench press with barbell and dumbells are great for making a nice, big chest. Want bigger arms, do barbell curls and skullcrushers.

As far as wanting a ripped stomach, you need more cardio, like rope jumping and running.

Skullcrushers?

There will always be the Jackie Chans and Jet Li's who will come along and dazzle us with their screen antics. But Bruce Lee was a seeker of knowledge, a true master of the fighting arts and philosophy.
