thurockk
I don't know about anyone else, but at times I feel decent at both, other times I feel insufficient at both. Do or Do Not, There is No Try- Yoda

lucifersdad
probably forms,i compete in both to a decent level but i think i have more of a love for forms so i seem to take more in forms sections! sticks and stones may break my bones, but i am trained to kill you. Sam
I wouldnt say good patterns practitioners are good at sparring as a rule, just that good students are good at both...... if u see what i mean.
Kaminari
I'm better at forms, in my opinion, probably because I spend a lot more time doing them. I prefer kata to sparring, although I think that sparring teaches more practical lessons than kata.
Sam
depends on how you spar though, but generally i agree.
Menjo
Iam better at patterns since in shotokan ive only now reached the level of full sparing "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
Hawkeye
I was better at forms (kata) earlier on but that was because I was able to practice them more. Since I've been able to spar more, I would say that I'm about equal in ability now. Every timely action will bring results ... Without difficulty. Every untimely endeavor will fail ... If the moment is premature or if the right moment is missed. - The Tree Poem
