holytriforce Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 ok i have been online checking all these sites in my area and the ones that really intrest me are:Wing Chun Kung FuMuay ThaiJujutsu KendoI am 16...about 5'9 and a pretty quick guy. Im in football and track...i consider myself pretty tought any suggestions?
Menjo Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I would suggest Muay Thai, however any one of those would be a great choice, just depends on what you're looking for... "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
holytriforce Posted June 30, 2005 Author Posted June 30, 2005 Well what I really want in a Martial Art is hobby (something I could practice) , ability to compete, and protection for myself. In the Martial art itself I would like it to be more on the fast paced side and I would like it to be a striking art. I am not THAT much into grappling though i probably will take it as a second MA later on. So now I am mostly thinking about:Kendo<<Muay ThaiWing Chun
Menjo Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 Anyone of those could be what you're looking for. I dont know anything about kung-fu, however Muay Thai is fast paced and defitnaly striking...however Iam envoius of how theres a place in you're area that teaches kendo. Kendo could be very good hobby, and not to sure about competion. Kung-fu iam clueless about. Muay Thai would be more fitness hobby rather than perfecting technique(not saying theres no technique) and you can compete and good defense. My advice is to go to each training area( or dojo) and talk to the instructors and watch a few classes perhaps to get the feel of what the classes will really be like. Sam Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 muay thai is good as you mention you think your tough..... MT may change your perspecitve on what "tough" is ....
Menjo Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 lol enough kicks and knees to the head changed my way of thinking a little bit anyway. Still a point that i missed is that kendo and kung-fu give a very different view on things and a different kind of discipline to youre life than muay thai. ItalianMuayThai Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 After a few MT matches im sure your prospective of yourself will change greatly..... Wing Chun is a very good art as well, have heard nothing but good about it ~ You first mistake is to underestimate ~
ravenzoom Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Well Wing Chun certainly is good if you want a quickly paced martial art, as is muay thai if you think about it (don't know about kendo though).
BJJ is 1 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Muay Thai for sure "Without Jiu Jitsu its like without my two legs."-Rickson Graciehttps://www.myspace.com/cobraguard
y2_sub Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I would go with Muay Thai and/or jujitsu .. both are gr8 , however , if you think you are quick and tough , go for Muay thai Moon might shine upon the innocent and the guilty alike
