Hudson
Water/Powerade/GatoradeIf I need something beforehand it's usually grapes, or an orange or two. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.
karatekid1975
I take Gatorade, Powerade, or water. If I need to eat something, I eat a power bar (they are light enough for class, but yet, they give you a boost). Laurie F

Kaminari
Water only. I've seen and had bad experiences with eating, then having to spar/getting hit in the stomach, etc. Not a fun thing, but different people handle that kind of stuff differently, I guess. Menjo
Yea lol thats true a guy right before a muay thai match ate an apple and went into the ring, after a round he was hit in the gut really hard from a kick and he barfed all over the ring, may have not been the apple but it never happened before it so ill say it was. yamesu
Ive also heard stories about persons having there bladder split, due to being struck directly during a contact sparring session. So be carefull also how much fluid you drink during training, and up to an hour before sparring.(Obviously one needs to keep the body hydrated, but ideally fighting should not be done on a full bladder/stomach.)
