elbows_and_knees Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 this has been happening in my city as well. Here are some of my thoughts.1. forget self defense for preachers - that would be a joke - like women's self defense. Train them just as you would train anyone else.2. many of the churches in my area offer MA programs - why wouldn't a preacher join one?3. there is a scripture in the bible that says something to the effect of if there is a man without a sword, let him sell his shirt and buy a sword. Also, look at the history of war in the bible - the tearing down of the walls of jericho for instance - they were fighting - with God on their side. What is the difference?4. talk to them and ask them what they would think about offering a training program.
Sam Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 fair point - but i think he's more talkign about self-defense against a specific situation rather than just for preachers if you see what i mean....but overall yeah i agree
y2_sub Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Some of those preachers might be old and week , they can't train in a full martial art system . Moon might shine upon the innocent and the guilty alike
ivette_green Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 if so... arent they supposed to be pacifists... or something? There's two kinds of pacifism: Absolute---if you were going to kill them they wouldn't raise a hand to stop you.Partial---they will use violence in self-defense. Not in war or anything like that, but one on one confrontation. "Don't tell me what I can't do."
Sam Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 well theres pacifism.... and theres nonagression... but yeah i agree.
ItalianMuayThai Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 there has been a string of robberies, and violence agianst preachers in my city.these idiots are walking right up in churches and starting fights, and robbing the whole church at gun point.i was thinking about starting a self defense class for preachers , and also helping churches organize a security force from within the chuech.any comments would be helpful, as well as criticismWell if its at gunpoint let them take what they want, a few greenbacks isnt worth a life. But i would advise the self defense class, good idea. but as i said before, if they have a gun, your best bet is just to let them take what they want ~ You first mistake is to underestimate ~
