Ryokeen Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Well I am expiriencing soarness right under my leg, near my knee.I never knew there was a muscle there, atfirst i thought it was my hamstring axcting up or what not but now, Once I stretch it ect it's good to go for a few hrs and then once I stop working it for even 2 mins it stops wokring right again and I have to restretch.Any ideas as to what the colprate could be ?Is it that I usually don't work that muscle or maybe threw something the wrong way ect? Thanks!Ryokeen Needing to focus...
yamesu Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 If its one of two hard, tubular 'muscles', which feel extremely tense or tight, directly behind your knee, id say that its not in fact muscle, but tendon. If it is tendon:Be very careful stretching it, if you have created a minor tear due to excessive stretching, (especially after a prolonged period of not stretching, ie-2-3 weeks,) and you over do it now, you could create a complete tear.Tearing of a tendon can require 6 months or more of healing time, significantly more than a bone-fracture.Be VERY carefull, and take it easy on your leg.Dont do any high kicks!See a doctor if your leg pain worsens or does not subside. I added one more stretch to my stretching routine and that's it. Could one stretch really mess up a tendon? What sort of excersises do you suggest while the leg is down? fangshi Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 This type of pain could very well be a tendon or tendonitis type injury . Alternating hot and cold treatments have helped me with these types of nagging injuries . Theraputic ultrasound has also had positive results for me . A good physio-theripist can do wonders . Often these types of things are caused by an inbalance of strength in the muscles in the Quad and hamstring muscles . Be careful with stretching as has been said in the posts above . NO ISOMETRIC style stretching for a while . The last thing you want is to create a worse injury to that area . If the pain persists go see your doctor . He/she can definitly help . Often anti inflamitories are perscribed . along with rest mild stretching and strengthening movements , hot and cold therapies and support for the area . I have had a few students that were give orthotic inserts tension wraps and even braces depending on the specific injury . That being said I am certainly no doctor and perhaps it would be prudent to go see one . Even if it is just to rule out any severe injury . Often they will have the resources to give you several avenues in which to follow . GOOD LUCK ! GET WELL SOON !! Once I get a viral infection in my lymph nodes, doctor said I'd be down for a couple weeks 2 days I was tip top shape. Thanks for the tips, they did help alot .Ryokeen Needing to focus...
Kajukenbopr Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Might not be anything bad, maybe you overworked it somehow. In any case, get it checked with a doctor just in case, you dont want to be stuck with a leg injury that will leave you defenseless. <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty
