Ryokeen Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Starting november our school is going to reopen to the public, along with this we want to make a big entrance. We are encouraged, if it is in our hearts to do so, to train for tournements. I feel I really want to compete on our team, and well frankly winning or help winning would be a nice effect .This is what I was suggested I do. I just wanted some of your feedback. My sensei is a 9th dan and went 11 years before he lost. I don't doubt him at all, I just want outside thoughts .Daily: Streatches(such as the chinese streatches, cheerleader splits, basic streatches and any other streatch we are confortable with.) Also I chose to do 500 Knee push ups, now these arent your normal push ups. You start in a horse stance place your hands in a triangle and scootch your hands up as far as you can and go down and forward then back so you're on your tippy toes then down again flatfoot back to tippy toes. I will also do 20 to 50 of those the "right" way daily. And of course work on my technique. Monday, tuesday, wednessday, thursday:Class. Need I say more? XDYes I know I'll be soar, and yes I know it'll be hard on ym body at first. If my sensei could take double that at my age then I WILL take half of what he did untill I am older and my body is done growing. I am 15 BTW. Yes I'm a whitebelt, And yes I'm 100% willing to go through with it.I just wanted your oppinions thanks .Aaron. Needing to focus...
Ryokeen Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Also on a note I use sunday as my day of rest and wednessday I'll do half of the usuall. These are church days and I am a christian and Church comes before ANY martial art.So yes I'll have rest days And If I'm to soar obviously I'm not gonna go tear anyhting just to get good because what's the point if I'm just gonna be in a cast XD. Mr. Mike Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I say keep your enthusiasm as long as you can. IF your body can take it, go for it.That would leave me pretty much ragged.I'm getting there though. Sam Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Yeah that sounds like fun, lol... might wanna work in some fast squats or something like that just for a bit of explosive powerin your legs.... didnt relaly understand what you were on about iwth the knee pushups.
cheeks Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 i couldnt work out what you meant by those knee press ups either, but if you are absolutely knackered once you are finnished then you must be doing some good...at home i do press ups, sit ups and squats, 100 of each 3 times a week, and i go to club 3 times a week.btw if you have only just started, then i may suggest slowing down and takeing your time to build up your strength. my routine that i do, i wouldnt have had a chance 2 years ago when i first started If you have just read the above message and agree with it then you may worship me as the best thing since sliced bread. Of course if you don't agree then hey, i'm a crazed lunatic and you should ignore my insane ramblings.
Aodhan Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Daily: Streatches(such as the chinese streatches, cheerleader splits, basic streatches and any other streatch we are confortable with.) I will also do 20 to 50 of those the "right" way daily. And of course work on my technique. You need to balance out your body, so if you just do the pushups (I'm having a hard time visualizing it, but it sounds like it works pecs and the front part of the shoulder, and the triceps), then you will end up with imbalances.Just because your sensei did it, doesn't mean that it will work or is even right for you. Slavishly copying your sensei in everything he did may or may not necessarily make you good. You need to find a workout regimen (Other than class and the stretches, those are good.) that produces a well rounded, balanced body, and gets you closer to your goals. Find your weaknesses and work on them. (My current weakness is speed, so I'm doing a lot of foot/hand speed drills anymore.)Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
Bruce WillPete7 Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I agree with Aodhan. Start with low reps and progressively build up and your body will have no problem keeping up. If you are going to do the 500 knee pushups chances are you wont be able to do them all at once or maybe even in a single day right away, this can be self defeating, thats why building yourself up i.e. from 100 a day then progressively to 150 then 200 etc.... you may have a little more luck. Great additude though you will get to your goals so long as you stick to it. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. Ryokeen Posted June 17, 2005 Author Posted June 17, 2005 Clarifying a few things.I have been going for about a year and a half off and on.500 of his style push ups on in the course of 5 hours.I have a bag set that I do my round houses, snap kicks, side kicks ect on. This is included on my routine. And the push ups acctualy work everything equally or very close to it. He wouldnt tell us to do anything that would cuase harm.In no way am i trying to be just like him. He did alot more reps. I cut it back form what he did to fit my current fitness. Now that that's clarified any other comments? My legs get worked by my stretches and my kicking techniques.~Thanks~Ryokeen Needing to focus...
Bruce WillPete7 Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Hmm all i suggest now is some cardio for your endurance but yes that clarifies alot. Gl with your training.
