Goju_boi Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 how can I increase my head endurance so I can take more hits? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
ninjanurse Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 One of the things we do is at our school is starting at yellow belt we have the students bounce their heads off the mat with each sit-up or crunch. In theory...maybe, in practice...I'm not sure. Some people just can't take a hit to the head period. Hudson Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Strengthen your neck muscles. The stronger your neck muscles become the more resistant to concussions you will be.Best advice, wrestlers bridge. The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.

cheeks Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 One of the things we do is at our school is starting at yellow belt we have the students bounce their heads off the mat with each sit-up or crunch. In theory...maybe, in practice...I'm not sure. Some people just can't take a hit to the head period. that sounds a little bit strange.... and i cant see how that would workand Goju_boi why do you want to be hit? work on your defence and you will be hit less often..... just a thought If you have just read the above message and agree with it then you may worship me as the best thing since sliced bread. Of course if you don't agree then hey, i'm a crazed lunatic and you should ignore my insane ramblings.
ninjanurse Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Like I said...in practice, not sure. In theory, you could argue that your brain would get used to getting sloshed around inside your skull so that when you took a good hit it wouldn't be so bad. DaChroniclez Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 ^^^i think you would just get alot of brain damage. getting punched in the jaw is how ppl get knocked out 90% of the time. it cuts off your oxygen or something like that to your brain and your out. so if you clinch your jaw you will not be K.O'd most likely. This is at least what i was told by a fairly good boxer friend of mine.
fangshi Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Strengthen your neck muscles. The stronger your neck muscles become the more resistant to concussions you will be.Best advice, wrestlers bridge.100 % agree . The wrestlers bridge is far and away the best excersize for strengthening the neck muscles and KO prevention . If you are new to this I would suggest a more basic movement to begin with . 1 put the palm of your hand under your chin and press up with your hand and resist with your neck muscles not allowing your head to move .2 press hand on back of head down and forward and resist as in excersize 1 .3 press on either side of head .These are isometric movements and should be held for 5 to 10 seconds per rep . If you have any pain while doing these or any other neck excersize... STOP !!! We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.
Kicks Posted May 30, 2005 Posted May 30, 2005 Some gyms have a neck strengthing maching. I've used one. It provides resistence to both left and right. when you create the world's largest trailer park, you're going to have tornadoes
Goju_boi Posted June 8, 2005 Author Posted June 8, 2005 thanx for the advice fangshi and as for cheeks it's not that I want to get hit,it just happens,it's unavoidable. https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
