DaChroniclez Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 ok i have a question about stretching my groin muscles. heres my problem. Ok when i do the stretch where im sitting with my feet together and my knees out to the side, and then i'm trying to push my knees down (im sure you all know this stretch). well i can do it fine with my left side, and even though it hurts when i push far/hard, its the normal pain that you get when you stretch. My right side is the one with the problem. As soon as i push it down even a little, i have a very sharp pain in the area my stretching. this has been happening for a long time i think, i mean i havent really paid attention to it, but its been happening for very long (could be mistaken). and its a pain that is very sharp and i cant just keep stretching and itll get better. I'm afraid to even push it a little because it hurts very much. What is this, and how can i fix it???thank you very much for any input.
Goju_boi Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 maybe it's just in your positioning(feet to far away or too close)or maybe if u just push harder u will achieve it https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
ninjanurse Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 Could be a tear or a nerve that is too close and gets impinged when you stretch. If it is painful you shouldn't push it and you may want to have it checked out by a doctor. If it were me, I would ice it everyday for a few weeks, let it heal, and try again gently. Some tears take several months to heal...I had a hamstring tear that took almost 2 years! DaChroniclez Posted May 27, 2005 Author Posted May 27, 2005 thats a long time. Now that i think about it, the type of pain makes me think it might be a nerve. So what would i have to do if it was in fact a nerve there?? what kind of problem would that give me?
ninjanurse Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I'm not really qualified to answer that. I suggest a chiropractor (if you are in to that) or an MD/DO. "A Black Belt is only the beginning."Heidi-A student of the artsTae Kwon Do,Shotokan,Ju Jitsu,Modern Arnishttp://the100info.tumblr.com/
Bruce WillPete7 Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 You could always ask your instructor. He/She could always give you advice on what the problem is and then suggest you go to a medical source if its that serious. Either way dont stretch it if sharp pains occur. I had the exact same feeling you did, and it was in my right groin area i never got it checked out and it eventually went away. In the meantime i didnt stretch it so try to lay off groin stretches that target your pain. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. When you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; when you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; when you put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow- or it can crash. Be water my friend. ~Bruce Lee
SaiFightsMS Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Try another stretch for that area and see if it is the same result.
