mastertae
I read about a scientific study on this...They say one of the best defensive stance is mauy tai kick boxing....the best offensive stance because it allows extremely quick movements and if done right won't cause you to lose power was actually TKD's stance...which is ironic since there are so many people who consider it a weak art... ...but it really probably depends on a persons body type thus there is probably no true best fighting stance...bruce lee's fighting stance was ranked on the top as a total fighting stance what ever that means...mainly because it allows great protection and quick reflexes Is it not easier to strike a mountain than it is to strike a fly! ad
its amazing how katas and forms make the stances flow, no matter what postition you are, you are always in a stance, forms and katas in my view are the best way of improving you stances Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
Strife
It all depends on the person and what they feel comfortable with. Like JKD, its different for everyone. My most comfortable is to act like im just standin there, but with one foot slightly in front of the other, weight shifted almost evenly with a little more on the back than the front, (also your front foot is ever so slightly on the ball) Bending at the knees and elbows and a slight arch of back as well. Looks pretty natural but I can fall into anystance easily and move EXTREMELY fast from it. People often underestimate you....suckers....hehe ______________________________________Its only funny until someone gets hurt. Then its hilarious. jahred
i wouldn't consider this the most effective stance, but it sure deserves mention, partly because it's so interesting.. capoeira's ginga. it's always moving, it's very evasive, and has the ability to flow into many techniques. sweet! now granted, a capoeirista whose main focus is the dance and the roda will probably not be able to turn the ginga into an 'effective' fighting stance. however i'd bet streetfighting capoeristas have perfected its use in a real fight.. i've never actually seen a streetfighting practicioner of capoeira though, so unfortunately i'm only left to imagine. i guess a lot of people know that gangs used capoeira as their personal fighting style against police back in the day, so i have no doubt a combat- based capoeirista could make a truly effective use of the ginga. i'd really like to see it! Blade13
Yeah, its really effective. I use it a lot when I fight. I havent been in an actual fight in a couple of years, back before my capoeria days. I used to be part of a "fight club." Nothing too drastic because it was done at school outside during lunch. It was like wrestling with more moves and pinning wasnt necessary. Just first one on the ground loses. Before my matches, everyone would make fun of the ginga and say "What are you dancin for??" I would always reply with "You'll see." They found out when they were on the ground. One guy was acting all tough and said that my dancing could never beat him. I took his legs out from under him and he was still in the air when I spun around. lol I love the ginga! _________________ *To HELL with opportunity! Roc
My favourite stance is my free fighting stance which is basically the same as Kokutsu dachi, except my weight is more evenly distributed over both my legs. Or I suppose you could say it's just Kokutsu dachi .
Pacificshore
When I find myself dropping into a stance, it'll be with my lead foot turned slightly inward(left or right foot), and my rear leg loaded-meaning heel up. Now I've always learned this as the Kenpo fighting stance, but I'm sure there are many other names for it!! Di'DaDeeeee!!!Mind of Mencia
ad
its best to be balanced and both quick at the same time, its actually very hard to find one stance which is a balance of both Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
