Kicking power

In addition to this practise half the kick.. the first half... the knee lift. Also known as Hiza Geri.. knee kick. When doing this, do it in intervals. Go for one minute as fast as you possibly can, lifting the knee as high as you can. Then rest 1 minute then repeat. Then emphasis here is on speed not endurance. Do as many sets as you can per leg. Getting the knee up as fast as possible is critical to an effective kick.

Boots. Get some heavy boots and practise your kicks in the methods described above.

Would that kick be a front kick?? What about for a round house?

I have ankle weihts. But i heard those could injure you. I think they are 2.5lbs ot 3lbs.

Well you can use ankle weights but kick slowly with them on.Do not do it fast because you can injure your joints.

what i like to do with ankle wieghts is put them on and do slow kicks over a chair that helps

I knee kick is where the knee is the surface that impacts with the opponent not the foot. Knee kicks are commonly used to target the groin and ribs. And if you are familiar with Heian Yondan there is a move in that kata that simulates grabbing an opponts head and pulling it down into your rising knee strike.

It's hard to advise how to kick better without knowing what style you do. For instance, in my art, the best advise I can give for how to kick harder is to practice making the leg completely limp while kicking and not use the thighs at all.. Obviously this doesn't work well with advise on kicking slow with weights, for instance.

You can use the same processes for any kick. I found ankle weights and kicking puts un-necessary stress on my knee joints.

Yeah heavy bag is a good way of practicing strengthening your kicks on your own.

The problem with kicking with ankle weights is if you kick to hard it can put a huge amount of pressure on the knee joint, and can hyperextend it.... ouchies.

Destruction if any of your instructors recommend this can be used to help focus and power - but looking at your styles non of them seems destruction oriented.

I'd list to Muaythaiboxer - as you guys seems to share a style!.
