I located a JKD school very close by.

I have a few questions about it. Their website is http://www.premierjkd.com

The chief instructor's name is "Sifu Dane Junod." He's apparently trained under Jerry Poteet and Ted Wong. Does anyone know anything about him? Is he a good instructor?

I've been intrigued by JKD for years now and always wanted to find a nearby JKD school. I want to be sure this one isn't just a fake, rip off sort of gym place. He also didn't exactly mention the price or cost saying that he wants me to take the "free lesson" before discussing that, which I found odd. But maybe that's normal, I don't know.

Anyway, thanks for any feedback.

Looks like a nice clean place...very new. Most places want to get you in the door so you won't be biased by price. He may have a lot to offer for the $ but never have the chance to tell potential students about it unless they see the place and talk to him. Doesn't mean that he isn't a reputable instructor. I would go and check it out..and definitely watch a few classes too.

Hmm very posh place. And they got cool gi too! i only have a club t-shirt :(. My dojo has no wallpaper just brick painted white. And a metal shutter door in one side of the room that rattles with the wind. :D We have a cd player that has no sides. But lots of pictures of Dan inosanto that we pray to :P

Well, go for the free lesson and see what you think. They may want you to try out and see what you think of the place before they tell you prices and the like. They may think that their price structure would put off potential students unless they had a free lesson first to see the quality of the school. Anyway, you've nothing to lose by going along to the free lesson - make sure you ask plenty of questions about price and contracts and the like before you join/sign up.

Good luck with it! :karate:

Yes taking the free lessons is something you should do to get the feeling of the art and the instruction.

Even if there something strange in the website...

JKD meant to be informal so I do not understand the need of a uniform.... (Cmon is not by chance you have only a t-shirt like we do I never saw a JKD practitioner wearing a uniform) and then if you click under the name of the instuctor you don't find any curriculum just pictures.

So take a look and keep your eyes open.
