You say that you are taking Tai chi during a convalescence period. I find strange that someone not in good shape can do taichi. Even if speed is not an issue, I remember it gives quite a good workout and if you are not in perfect health is not very easy to do.

Can I ask you what kind of injury are you recovering from?

The only thing convalescing is my knee. I will be unable to kick and jump for quite some time so I am taking the opportunity to study. It is offered at my school along with the main style and is "required study" for 4th degree and up anyway. There's no time like the present!

italian_guy you have to remember that tai chi is different to other martial arts. it is recomended for all sorts of health problems like arthitus as the slow graceful movements can help to strengthen the joints (like the knees)

ninjanurse, i hope your recovery is going ok, and remeber that it is completly different to karate and TKD, make the most of the experiance....

If you have just read the above message and agree with it then you may worship me as the best thing since sliced bread.

Taiji forms can be modified to deal with most health problems. You have to keep in mind that if you have really begun to understand taiji, "any movement can be a taiji movement".
