CapitalKarate Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 If you haven't been doing MA for more than a few years (unless you practice every day for an hour or more) and if you're right handed, then you're left roundhouse, or really any left leg kick will be weaker for a while than your right. Just be patient and practice, eventually you'll get to where you want to be. Aodhan Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Other than possibly increasing flexibility by going progressively lower, sitting in a horse stance for a long time will really only help with muscle endurance. To get better at round kicks, you need to do more proper round kicks.Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.Aodhan There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.-Douglas Everett, American hockey player
CapitalKarate Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 True, I should have said perfect practice. Ok, just practice the technique PROPERLY, as in, stress proper form as opposed to power, and eventually you'll get the power you want. Samurai Shotokan Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Actually I have the exact same problem. I have weak left roundhouses...i cant seem to hit with any power as much as my right. Yes i am left handed for some reason i prefer my right foot forward. I dont really know if i can offer any advice since im in the same boat as you 28 movies, 50 years Godzilla is King of the Monsters"nothing like a good workout" Paul Pheonix
ninjanurse Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 To achieve balance you may need to practice more on the weaker side until it is equal. "A Black Belt is only the beginning."Heidi-A student of the artsTae Kwon Do,Shotokan,Ju Jitsu,Modern Arnishttp://the100info.tumblr.com/
Goju_boi Posted May 8, 2005 Author Posted May 8, 2005 To achieve balance you may need to practice more on the weaker side until it is equal. good advice. But do u think it might be a question ofdistance? https://www.samuraimartialsports.com for your source of Karate,Kobudo,Aikido,And Kung-Fu
ninjanurse Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 Distance can always be a factor and with kicking it may be directly related to the differences in flexibility and speed of each leg. Good point! SaiFightsMS Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 It is not uncommon to have one leg that is stronger at certain kicks than the other side. Most styles I have seen routinely practice all techniques from both sides of the body to help try and correct this. When you practice on your own try starting with the weaker side first and give it time to gain strenght.
