what he did on his own was a result of instense conditioning and practice. the ideology behind what he did was the important factor, and could be used by everyone. for instance, instead of doing exactly what he did, many of his students developed a more counter-attack approach because it was too hard to hit lee directly.

exactly hwat im saying.

Bruce Lee was an exceptional fighter. He trained hard daily and stressed conditioning. That was his way of jkd.

Not everyone can be like bruce(as ive seen tkders try to impersonate him). That is why you find your own way of fighting. As you said, bruces students developed more of a counter attack approach..that is their way of jkd.

Bruce Lee said himself that JKD is a concept and not an actual art (I have this statement on video)

When you do a thorough analysis of JKD, there is nothing new in it. Bruce used eastern kicks, western foot work and western punches.

There is nothing new, just packaging.

Yes in a certain sense you're right. It is packaging done with certain rules in order to create an homogeneous system. The ideal JKD instructor is someone who do its research in various MA and, according to certain principles, introduce them into a system. The ideal JKD student is someone who learns a lot of different things and according to its physical capabilities (and sometimes physical limitations) and attitude takes what's best for him.
