which martial art to choose?

Featured Replies

glad you enjoyed it - i would recommend trying it all out first.... you never know what you're going to enjoy until you've experienced it - and a lot of people have a bias toward the style they train in.

Yea I admit myself I tend to be biased about shotokan.

and im very defensive about peoples positions on TKd, although not really biased about its effectiveness.... always good to know about your own biases though.

Any MA can be a tool 4 that porpouse. Am sure u have to find some school (in any MA) that enfatizies in self defense.

Here we have a lot of martial arts-dojos and dojans and others that are self-defense schools who teach from basic forms, convination of greco-roman, judo, aikido, hap ki do, Tae kwon do and or kung fu.

They are for self defense porpouses, they are not for martial arts developments or teach. Neither does test or level any kind

Usually the teacher is some kind of ex-police or ex-mp. (Fun fact when go and find Major Pain as your instructor, jeje!)

thanks to all u guys for all your advice. just completed 2 months of shotokan karate classes and i'm enjoying every moment of it.

i used to keep pretty fit previously but even then my fitness level has improved. now i'm wondering why i didn't join earlier. but then better late than never , i guess. :)

I would recommend Kyokushin...its like hapkido except more striking and less grappling.
