Cmon
If i was to do push ups with my hands together and the fingers interlocked? I know this would help strenght my fingers and fist for punching. But i want to know whether it would be damaging to my hands at all?
Shorinryu Sensei
If i was to do push ups with my hands together and the fingers interlocked? I know this would help strenght my fingers and fist for punching. Uh...no it won't. If you want to strengthen your wrists, do pushups with your hands in a fist and make sure your weight is over the index and middle knuckles. if you want to strengthen the fingers, do fingertip pushups where the fingers are extended and splayed out, but the only part of yoru hand that touches the ground are the fingertips themselves. But i want to know whether it would be damaging to my hands at all? What I described above me FEEL like it's causing damage...but really, it's not. Zanejin
Well, I always to pushups with fists because it's a requirement in our Shinkyokushin dojo. So far, I don't think my hand has been damaged; the only difference is that there are calices on my knuckles.
fangshi
Those kind of push ups would be hard on wrists and elbows . Could cause damage , probably not right away but more down the road . We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.

No, they don't cause any damage to wrists or fingers.I was talking about the inter laced finger push ups . I agree that Knuckle/fingertip pushups do not cause any damage when done properly. solar_kid
A little off-topic, but I think the fist pushup is a great pushup because it doesn't cause your wrists to bend back at a 90 degree angle. Seems like that could cause problems like repetitive stresss/carpal tunnel syndrome that people get when their wrists are held at an unnatural position when typing. ----Hmm. Hello. This is the floor. How did I get here?
