Joecooke007 Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 O.k. when I'm at hotels in the pool alone I act like I can do those crazy Matrix and Crouching Tiger moves in slow mo. Does that count? Boards don't hit back. -Bruce Lee
Ryukyu1 Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 Trained in pool when I tore ligaments in my ankle. At first felt a little embarrassed as it drew some attention but I found the resistance made me concentrate more I my movements and after 3 months had strengthened me a little more!
SaiFightsMS Posted February 19, 2002 Posted February 19, 2002 Deep water jogging is an excellant supplemental training activity. And there are water boots to add resistance to increase leg strength. As well as aquatic dumb bells.
Phantasmatic Posted February 19, 2002 Posted February 19, 2002 WOW, some other people other than me train in water. We have a pool where we swim and I use the diving board for balance. I also do some stance training and kiba-kimedachi. "Which one is more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" - Obi Wan Kenobi
Cory Reynolds Posted February 20, 2002 Posted February 20, 2002 When I was growing up my parents owned a pool and I practiced training in there from time to time. I didn't take it too seriously back then, but I remember it being a good challenge. I know that physical therapists sometimes perscribe water training to people recovering from different sorts of injuries. Wise man once said "he who has big mouth has much room for foot."
Piastre Posted February 20, 2002 Posted February 20, 2002 I found training in water extremely beneficial whist recovering from a serious shoulder injury. And as Sai mentioned, running laps in water is great when you can't run on land due to the jarring, or swim.
Gorgoth Posted February 20, 2002 Posted February 20, 2002 i've trained in water many times before... we have put resistance type objects on our legs and arms and have done kicking and punching lines and such... those get hard... hehe... but if you think about it... if you get to where you can punch fast and strong with resistance objects IN the water... just think of what you will be able to do OUT of the water... hehe... -Gor Student- Okinawan Goju-Ryu: Miyagi Style
steveking63 Posted March 11, 2002 Posted March 11, 2002 always train in the pool when on holiday. The water supports the body and you can focus on pure technique. This will build strength and muscle memory. Water training is also very good when recovering from injuries. Particuarly knee and ankle injuries, and for developing a weaker side. If you have one. You can add weights, or even try a cardio workout in the pool, but not in the deep end ! Plus it stops all the girls looking at the beach bums. Unless you are a beach bum training in the pool. 2nd Dan Black Belt Karate 1st Dan BrithaiCardio Kickboxing Coach and Professional fitness trainer based in Cambridgeshire England
