Hi all

I've noticed something in the Gyms i've trained in over the last couple of decades.

As a male progesses in size & strength, often with the assistance of a range of "pharmaceutical enhancements" - a stange progression occurs. The baseball cap is often first - at about the "just a bit bigger than the average guy" stage. Next comes the fake tan & the jewelry, mainly a nice chunky gold chain around the neck. By the time they reach "pumped up freak" size we have the baseball cap (work back to front) big baggy trousers made from mum's best curtains, and a plethora of gold ornamentation.

Why is this?

Maybe the baseball cap is to hide the hair loss from too much "juice"?

Perhaps the fake tan hides the inevitable acne that also goes with said "stuff"?

Mum's curtains don't look THAT bad I suppose - until they get a stage further down the slippery slope & start to dress like that in public too - LOL!

It's a strange world.

I have had the good fortune to train in gyms where such occurences are rare. The place I currently train is populated with a large number of business people who work in the downtown area.

Business and artificially performance enhancing substances do not coexist well. Most of the supplements consumed in this gym are of the nature produced by American Body Building and obtained from a vending machine.

hey well for me that is not that strange cause it really doesn't happen in the gym i go to maybe the first one and sometimes the third

Well it does get stranger now these days

Saw a great one yesterday. This guy took about 5 minutes between sets to psych himself up - huffing, puffing, pacing up & down glaring in the mirror etc etc. All this was for his 3 sets of dumbell shrugs - with 20kg dumbells!

Aaaaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhh

On the other side of the evolutionary scale I was asked recently buy a BIG dude (Yep .... baseball cap, spotty back, too square jaw, skinny legs) to pass him his 150kg dumbell for his incline bench press. PASS IT????? I couldn't even ROLL the damned thing LOL!
