KarateKid7
Do dips really hit the pecs? I am beyond doing pressups as I dont get strength increases/hypertrophy from them anymore. So i turned to dips to develop my pecs and shoulders and arms in general. Good idea or not? Cheers. fangshi
Dips do work the areas you have mentioned . Not the greatest exercize for pec development by itself . Is great when done with other exercizes . By press ups I assume you mean push ups . I am unsure as what you mean by not getting any benifit from them anymore. What variations do you do ? I have been doing push ups and variations of them for 20 years and am still feel a great benefit from them . Radok
When you do dips, lean foreward as much as you can to hit the pecs harder. They are an excellent pec building exercise. You can add weight with a backpack or belt. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate. KarateKid7
Yeah thanks guys Pushups and pressups. I mean they are just endurance exercises after a certain limit. Once you can do 40, you wont see significant strength/mass gains. Iv tried all the variations and sure I feel sore afterwards but this is just lactic acid. The muscles arent actively breaking down and building up again to give me strength and mass gains. THe next progression to these are handstand pushups "Life is a journey, not a destination""Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless""Knowing is not enough, we must apply. dtstiachi
Dips mainly work the shoulders, back and triceps. Try some pushups, dumbell flys, and bench presses for the chest. "The journey of a 1,000 miles starts with but a single step."
CQC
I wouldn't say that dips will actually give you massive strength gains, however they will nicely scalp your pecs. If you want strength exercises stick with bench press, dumbell press, flies, etc. But dips will definately give you some nice definition.
