three60roundhouse Posted February 9, 2002 Posted February 9, 2002 Just a suggestion - after intense workouts, don't just "stop", you have to gradually cool down and stretch. It's such a misconception that you only stretch BRFORE your workout. 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
Jack Posted February 9, 2002 Posted February 9, 2002 Yes, after your workout do some joint rotations (leg swings, unweighted squats, shoulder rotations) and go for a quick jog. This will all help to loosen the muscles up. Then do some stretching. If you are aching when you get home, try taking a nice long bath, and eating a banana also seems to help. Basically, you need to get rid of that Lactate build up! JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
YODA Posted February 9, 2002 Posted February 9, 2002 Good advaice Jack. May I also add..... Fluid intake - before, during & after training! Minerals - unless your diet is PERFECT - take a multivitamin & mineral supplement daily. Not those cheapo supermarket ones designed for old people - a decent sports strength one. SaiFightsMS Posted February 9, 2002 Posted February 9, 2002 Ad they have told you the best that can be done. Make sure you cool down properly after class. Post class stretching really sounds like something you need to take the time to do.

AnonymousOne Posted February 10, 2002 Posted February 10, 2002 When your body is warm its the best time to stretch, its harder to develop flexibility when the muscles are cold 7th Dan ChidokaiA true combat warrior has to be hard as nails in mind, body and soul. YODA Posted February 10, 2002 Posted February 10, 2002 There are two types & times for stretching... Maintenance / wrm up stretching - before training to prepare your body for the workout ahead. This should take you up to your current flexibility level. Development stretching - done,a s AnonymouseOne says, at the end of training when your muscles are warm.
