Kata Annan

Featured Replies

Hiya every 1

i was wanderin if ne 1 could post a video performance of the shito-ryu kata of Annan

This is one of my all time favourite competition katas even tho my style is shotokan. however i have noticed that many of the competition winners perform this kata in the finals alot in England. Therefore i would greatly appreciat help on learning this particular kata

Many thanks

I like this Kata - we do it in Shukokai as an "extra"

Shukokai came from Shito-ryu so no suprise

if you wanna do Anan , do the original Ryuie ryu version it won two world titles, there is a short clip in https://www.wonder-okinawa.jp , you can buy the tape too,

if sensei konishi learned Anan from Sensei Mabuni then they should be very close, all the Anan i have seen are almost the same in first half,I like the ryuie ryu version since the stances are higher and techniques are more complicated, anyway i think all the versions of Anan are good enough to win a competition.
