informer
Your belt is too long if while you're wearing it and look down at your belly button your belt can reach to your eye. Once somebody lost an eye during a kumite match. Imagine that! http://www.mixedmartialartsexpo.com
1kickKO
Eh? Haha some people like that so it makes them look like they are in lower stances than they really are when they are doing katas. Personally, I like a belt that reaches mid calf. Not too long, not too short.
senna_trem
Mine is too short right now, the ends stick right out to the sides. "I think therefore I am" Rene Descartes
1kickKO
How does everybody like the fit of their belt? By this I mean, do you like it really really broken in, do you like your belt stiff and sticking straight out, or do ya like that normal not too stiff but not too loose look? Personally I like mine quite broken in, where they have those natural curves...if I didn't just confuse you all there.
yamesu
I cant stand stiff belts, I think belts only feel natural after being 'really really broken in' over a few dozen hours (at least). As for length, i like my belt to have about 12inches on each end from the knot, so about mid-thigh when im standing. OSU. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. Red J
Mid to lower thigh and broken in! I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Jussi Häkkinen
I like stiff, 1 3/4" wide, thick belt that reaches just above my knee. Broken in in the knot area, so it hangs well (but the ends still don't look sloppy) and keeps the knot. I'm currently having a tad bit too short belt that reaches maybe 4" over my knees. Still, a "must" thing is that belt reaches lower than the hem of my jacket. Yep, I have a clear taste about what do I want. One reason is because I use my belt as a training tool. When doing a technique, if it doesn't move, I didn't use my hip or I did the technique wrong. I love my red belt. It is perfect in length (mid-thigh) and it's not stiff at all. I hope my future black belt is the same way. Laurie F
aefibird
I don't like stiff belts - I prefer them to be "broken in" and hanging mid-thigh length. "Was it really worth it? 1kickKO
Sounds like eveyrbody's pretty much in the same boat for the stiffness of the boat, but everybody does seem to like different sizes.
