SevenStar
go to the health forum. There are several threads on there about pushup improvement. How long have you been training?

SevenStar
I wouldn't do them as much as possible everyday - many people have gotten rotator cuff injuries and other various repettitive stress injuries that way. You do want to do them regularly though.
Chirath
I couldn't do pushups when I started. But I found if you started of doing wall push ups. Then it would be easier to do ten pushups. I then did ten push ups every 1/2 hour. I did that for 2 week. After that I moved onto 20 then 30. I don't have as much time to practise pushups anymore. So I currently can only do 30 even though it's been months.
tommarker
2 things I'd recommend: Isometric: Hold the starting pushup position (arms straight, body in a straight line, head up, abs tight) as long as you can. Start with 30 seconds and count down. Work up to a minute, and so on. Try as hard as you can to keep your body straight (don't stick your butt in the air or let you midsection sink) Breathe. Pyramids: If you can do them on your knees, this is a good starter (since you say you can only do 2 normal pushups) Start by doing 1 pushup on your knees. Rest about 20 seconds. Then do 2, rest 20 seconds, 3, rest, 4, etc Get as high as you can and then take about a minute break. Then, go down from your highest number down to 1. Good luck! I'm no longer posting here. Adios. Cmon
Practice makes perfect. I used to be able to do upto 100, then i stopped for a long while and now i can only do 20 ish. But i would sugest starting on your knees its much easier for beginners.
krzychicano
Just work on strengthening your arms and chest cause if you do pushups correctly they should be working out your chest only once your chest gets burned out do your arms start to take over. Straight Blast
Isometrics would be the best way to go. All you do is hold yourself up in the push up position til you feel the burn.Eventually you will gain the strength to begin normal push ups.
