I'm sore, but doing fine.

 

There were only 8 of us testing for 3rd, and Master Alex lead our testing. A whole mess of testees for 2nd and 1st. And that's only the brown/blacks that were promoting today. There was another testing at 1:30 for all the other DBNs.

 

2 hrs straight of non-stop everything. I did well on everything, except of all things, my under black stuff. I just haven't been practicing that material enough lately. Esspecially when we skipped through all the sets.

 

Oh well, I have my homework for May.

Well thats good to hear that you did well. I really wanted to be there hopefully may I can make it.

Master Alex was running the show, eh? He's one guy I've never seen in person. He's pretty amazing from what I've heard. I'd have to bow out if Sims led the class. I can't handle 10 minute horse stances.

This is the first time I've had him lead my test. He impressed me most with the way he used the test to teach us at the same time he was testing us. Of course, we're at a level now that there's no way we can fit in everything we know in 2 hrs. But he told us at the end that we each had our homework now, and he didn't need to tell us what that was. I like that.

 

Kept us moving constantly for those 2 hrs, and at a pretty fevered pace at that. We darn near made it through everything despite the time. All basic kicks, punches, some advanced (jumping and spinning), regular hyung, then left handed hyung, skipped around under black techniques, then most 1st degree and all 2nd degree techniques, all weapons, and some breaking at the end.

 

A darn good workout.

Sounds like a good test, I wish I could have seen that. Am I to take by your statement, "Oh well, I have my homework for May," that you didn't (couldn't? I know they wouldn't let us pass the first time we tested for 1st degree, was more to get us use to the test and get all the paper work going) pass this time? I'm not sure how it works when you get that high up in rank. Which weapons did you guys do during it?

You can expect to test for at least two years fo all your bb levels.

 

We performed:

 

Single & Double Short Staff forms (Dan Bong)

 

Long staff spinning, hyung & sparring

 

Sword medetations

 

Straight sword form

 

Reverse sword form

 

Cane techniques

 

Rope techniques

 

So, I misspoke. We didn't do Jool Bong, throwing knives, or archery, since they aren't requirements for testing.
