SVanderkolff Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 I am on heart medication and attempting to get back into karate after 3 years off. What I am finding is that I have no stamina, after 3 or 4 sparring matches I need to take a break and reoxegenate my body. I know my heart rate will not get above 140 no matter what I do so how does this affect my ability to train? Is anyone else dealing with this and what do yu recommend. Thanks STeve Thanks for the helpSteve
VinnieDaChin Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 i assume your doctor has given you the green light. if thats true, id guess that youre probably just a little out of shape. happens to all of us if we take 3 years off.
krzychicano Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Yes please make sure you have your doctors okay before doing any type of strenuous exercises, especially with a heart condition. SVanderkolff Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 The doctors have all given thier okay, subject to my listening to my body. My concern is what effect the drugs that I am on will have on my ability to train. Thanks Steve Thanks for the helpSteve
SaiFightsMS Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Realize it will take you a long time to build up your endurance and be patient with yourself and consistent with your training. Evaluate why you want to train and see if you need to make adjustments to your reasoning.
