krunchyfrogg
What should I expect? I know I'm not in the shape I was when I got injured (which is what forced me to miss this time). I also know I don't remember all of the terminology, stances, and kata I knew before getting injured. How long does it usually take for this knowledge to come back? What about my physical condition? TIA. krzychicano
I would not get to stressed over it. It will gradually come back as you go along. It might be a little rough at first but nothing that will kill you or I'm sure you can't overcome. Let us know how it goes. krunchyfrogg
I will. I'm just about to leave, and I have to admit... I'm pretty nervous about it! As much as I've loved going to classes since I started about 18 months ago, I've been a little reluctant about going back, and now I'm really forcing myself to do this! krunchyfrogg
When I walked in (I arrived fairly early), everyone told me how nice it was to have me back. I felt very comfortable stretching and catching up with everybody before class. I realized how much I missed it there. During the warmup exercises, I became fatigued much earlier than I ever did before. Then my Sensei matched me up with the guy I got injured with to be my partner for the class. That made me nervous again. I had a decent class fighting, and the going was slow, but I remembered more than I thought (both the warmup routine and my Japanese speaking). My kata was horrendous;y sloppy, but my Sensei told me to keep at it and that I'll be back to where I was in just a week or two. I didn't spar, and was told to get a couple of more classes under my belt before I could get back to sparring. Right now my hip is very sore, and I'm about to hit the shower. I really feel great though, and I'm glad I went back. I don't think I'll go to class tomorrow, because I think it's a good idea to rest my body after the hard workout tonight, but I plan on going again Friday (Friday's are usually slightly less intense, because it's a mixed kids/adults class). Hopefully next week I can start going my usual Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. I've got a lot of catching up to do! Thanks for all the support guys!
