Yeah, but it looks good. From a purely discipline standpoint, it is really amazing. And it may teach you some things, it is rooted in fundementals... but that raises a good question... When do you know/learn which styles are good for SD and which ones aren't. I've learned a lot of things in TSD, but nothing i would risk using in a fight... but i know i have a lot to learn (understandment of the century).... but the question remains...

the phenomenon of XMA is interesting in the same way a good martial arts hollywood flick is interesting...sure it's rooted in the fundamentals, but it is pure flash. It is not intended for Self Defense. If you want good self defense, try a karate school. This is sport martial arts at its best.

When a man has lost his luck, he meets a beautiful woman.

Simple. Apply critical thinking skills to your martial arts. I really feel that not enough people do this. If you need help, get a partner. If it doesn't past muster, you may want to reconsider what you train in.

I have this show. Always wished they'd put a Wing Chun chain punch on the pressure pad thing :)

They are very careful to acknowledge that what they are doing is teaching "movie-fu" style "martial" arts. I actually went to the website, and watching their demo video, just about every other sentence was, "We teach what people see in the movies." As long their students don't delude themselves into thinking that what they're doing is going to work in a real fight, I'd say that XMA is pretty harmless. Heck, it looks like fun. The only danger that lies in it, I would say, is that your body reacts the way it is trained. If you're so used to doing jump-spinning-flying-dragon-super-flash-tiger-knee-kick attack when someone punches at you in practice, you'll be fighting your body not to do that if someone is punching at you to hurt.

Do you know who Chosin Chibana is...?
