Recently I've found a buddhist temple near(kinda) where I live and found they have Tai Chi, I did not have oportunity to speak to the instructor to know what it's the style but anyway it got me curious...

The styles in Tai Chi, what are they? How are they? What are the diferences?

Thanks in advance

There are quite a few different styles of Tai-Chi, usually the name of the style has to do with the family that it is from. There's Yang, Chen, Sun just to name a few. But even if you are studying a specific style it all depends on the instructor. I study the Yang style and we had students come in who had studied the Yang and it was nothing like what they had previously learned. We learn the long form 108 movements broken up into 3 loops, a five elements form, a sword form, and maybe when we all get good enough we'll do push hands and a 2 man form.

I suppose Chen and Yang are the "biggest" styles? After here in Brazil I already heard about Chen stlye...

Yes these are the most popular.... in Italy there is a correlation... Kung fu Schools where southern styles are taught (Wing chun Hung Har etc.) usually teach Chen and Kung fu schools where Northern styles are taught (Northern Shaolin) teach yang.
