intraining
Hi all. I need some good exercises to increase my strength. I have never in my life been accused of being strong, and now that I'm training, it's more noticable than ever. I seriously can't even do 10 pushups. I'm weak!! My left side is so weak it's laughable and my stronger side is just pathetic. I would love to increase my strength even just a bit, but I don't know the right way to do it. Thanks in advance for the help!
isshinryu5toforever
Start with like 5 pushups. Do one set of five in the morning and one in the evening. Do that for a week or two. Then, when you feel a little more comfortable, move up to doing ten in the morning and ten in the evening. The next week do 15 in the morning and 15 in the evening, etc., etc. You just need to push yourself a little bit. If you're concerned about leg strength, stand in horse stance for 1 minute a day, watching a commercial or something. If you can do that easily, then move up the time, but if you can't stick with that for a week. Then go up in time by 30 seconds. Keep increasing by 30 seconds a week, until you feel good with where you are. He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.- Tao Te Ching"Move as swift as a wind, stay as silent as forest, attack as fierce as fire, undefeatable defense like a mountain."- Sun Tzu, the Art of War
intraining
Thanks for the advice. I've started doing that, and yes, I do have a hard time doing just 5. I'm such a weakling! Anywho, that has started to turn into a stretching time as well, which has been good. My flexability is improving as well. So, again, thank you! fangshi
Try using a heavy bag . It will strengthen all the muscles that are needed for the strike . BE SURE TO USE PROPER TECHNIQUE! Go slow at first and always stretch. We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.

fangshi
Your welcome There are thousands of strength building exercises . Some better than others but which ever path you choose the most important factor in strength building (or anthing else for that matter) is not to give up. The only real way to fail is to quit. Everything else is a work in progress. We are not so much individual beings as individual points of perception within one immense being.
SevenStar
http://www.trainforstrength.com try a few of these workouts. pace yourself with them - they will likely be too much you at first, but you will build up. Also, invest in some free weights - they are the best way for you to improve your strength. What is your current training schedule like?

You're right, all of those workouts will be too much for me, but I can certainly see the benefits of them. Thank you very much.
