I believe in the future Kickboxing will become alot more popular as modern culture has seemed to wreck the image of karate and taekwondo, this is the case where I live, many from my school(secondary school) say a karateka would not stand a chance against a kickboxer, well I dont think they have ever seen a Kyokushin fighter.

I believe the most practiced is TKD, but the most known-about is either shotokan karate or kung-fu.

im guessing either karate or kung fu. if you think about it, almost everyone has heard of it except people in "corners" of the world- but with a billion people alone in china, theyve all heard of kung fu and karate if nothing else.

unless street fighting counts....

acutally, I dunno which one is most famous, but I found something interesting.

In US, usualy people ask you "so you know karate?" or "you know Kung Fu?" when they heard that you are training in Martial Art.

but when I got Taiwan, usually they ask, "so you know TKD?" or "so you know Kung Fu"

and whe I go to japan, they usually ask, "so you study Judo?"

seems like, some of martial art is more popular than the others in certain area.

i think, most people will have heard of kung fu (as in the general) but very few will actually know of any actual styles.
